About the role:
This desirable and well recognised telecommunications giant is searching for an outstanding, personable and level headed Front End Web Developer to join their growing and talented project team for their on-line customer service portal. You will be working within the project team of approximately 10 people, including other Web Developers, BA, PM and a Tester. This team, like the wider organisation is embracing Agile methodologies of Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development.

With new funds recently injected into this existing project, you will be working on this project for at least 6 months with the opportunity to move into the broader development team after this.

The company operate within a more structured environment with fortnightly technical brainstorming sessions over lunch yet have a very casual dress code.

You'll be responsible for:
- Helping develop the on-line customer service portal's GUI (Graphical User Interface)
- Working closely with and pair programming with Java Software Engineers; therefore a genuine interest in Java programming and experience with Freemarker, jQuery, Spring, Hibernate and Sass would be desirable
- Whilst you won't be expected to code the back end solely by yourself, you will be working closely with Java Developers/Engineers on the requirements and at times you will be pair programming (XP); therefore a solid understanding of the terminology and processes involved is required.  
- Sharing your own knowledge and experiences with the rest of the project team and influencing the direction of front end development

To be successful in this role:
- Web development experience (strong CSS, HTML, Javascript & AJAX skills)
- Good feel for UX and an exceptional eye for usability
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to present to and work with a variety of stakeholders inside and outside the business, including  technical and non-technical people
- Understand evolving web standards (HTML5 and CSS3) & best practices whilst maintaining support for older browsers 
- A genuine interest in Java programming and experience with Freemarker, jQuery, Spring, Hibernate and Sass
- Experience in an agile development environment; acceptance TDD and DDD with Selenium, JUnit and Mockito is desirable
- Knowledge and experience with SOA, you've worked with web-services & XML would be advantageous

No exact number of years in web development are required for this role and my client is prepared to look at RELEVANT Graduates (with relevant degrees/skills), but they imagine someone with 2-3 + years would be able to fulfil the role's needs whilst find it challenging also. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with front end skills looking to expand their skill set into Java back end programming.
