About the role:
As a result of delivering top quality web based solutions to their well recognised (household brands) client's and continued business growth, this innovative mobile/web applications and digital services company with headquarters in Sydney as well as overseas, are looking for an intelligent and enthusiastic Junior Java Web Developer, to join their growing development team. You will be designing and building solutions for high profile, end-to-end, greenfield projects; developing large-scale, high transaction e-commerce websites as well as being exposed to emerging areas such as Mobile, Connected TV and Tablet applications.
These guys really kicked into action last year and increased from 3 to 10 people in all office locations and with more projects requiring delivery there is no stopping them now! Except of course they need more pairs of developer hands to achieve this continued growth...this is where you come in! Predominantly they are looking for a strong Junior Java Web Developer who will be focused on scoping, developing and programming technical solutions for their clients, and helping to deliver these on-time and on-budget.
To be successful in this role: - Genuinely passionate about Java web development
- Excellent core Java skills; you will be grilled on your J2SE knowledge!!
- Good understanding or core design patterns
- Strong web framework experience such as Spring and Struts
- Experience with web and application servers such as Tomcat and Weblogic
- Strong Relation Database and SQL skills
- Strong front end skills including JavaScript / HTML / CSS / Ajax Skills
- Web Services Exposure using REST and/or SOAP
- Prior experience building high transaction websites / applications
- Exposure to Unit Testing Experience and experience with agile development methodologies
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience with GWT and developing mobile applications using Android or Objective C / iOS for the iProducts such as the iPhone and iPad will be considered advantageous
You'll be responsible for:
- Gathering requirements
- Application design / architecture
- Java web development
- UI / Front End Development
- Exposure to the pre-sales process
- Investigating and evangelizing new technology solutions
- Sharing your knowledge and experiences with the rest of the team and influencing the direction of development
This role is well suited to a developer with approximately 1-2 years of experience in Java web development who wants to continue their career within this space but would also like to obtain commercial exposure to emerging mobile platforms. Perhaps you have been developing Android or iOS mobile applications in your own time and would like the opportunity to formalise those skills.
