Apex Resource Solutions are recruiting a 6 month contract for a technical Business Analyst. The role will reporting to the Business Analyst Manager and be responsible for ensuring that true business needs are clearly identified and stated. This includes all requirements needed to deliver and maintain the solution such as required performance, tools and reporting.
Key Tasks - Conducting Data Discovery activities on the Data Warehouse (Teradata) and Source Systems to analyse data and determine that it is 'fit for purpose' in accordance with reporting requirements.
- Documenting Measure and Dimension specifications to enable the build of Measures that support the reporting requirements.
- Ensure true business needs are clearly identified and clearly understood at the root so that the most effective and efficient solutions can be derived.
- In conjunction with the Business Analyst, own and represent the business requirement gathering activity within a project or initiative and be able to provide 'expected result' data.
- Manage scope of the Measure & Dimension Specification documentation and comply with change management procedures.
- Be able to create and/or update the Requirements Traceability Matrix to ensure requirements are managed throughout the lifecycle of any project / program.
- Identify and promote the definition and reuse of common business processes and practices.
- Develop, refine and rollout common processes and procedures for technical business analysis.
- Identify areas for improvement and ensure that any necessary changes are identified and implemented.
- Ensure that deliverables are peer reviewed to assure and improve quality.
- Review design and testing documents and work with technology and testing teams to ensure business requirements are satisfied.
- Support testing in confirming the validity and testing of the requirements (confirm that the requirements meet the business needs from both a functional and non functional perspective).
- Ensure that stakeholders are kept apprised of the status of requirements and the scope of the deliverables.
- Observe the human resource policies of the Company as varied from time to time.
Skills Required - Experience with Teradata essential
- Experience using Business Objects, SAS and Hyperion is advantageous
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Effective negotiation and customer management skills
- An understanding of user needs and a focus on the business outcome
- A logical approach to problem solving and an investigative and inquisitive mind
- Experience in collating and documenting requirements
- Self motivating and assertive
- Highly developed time management skills and ability to prioritise workload
- Understanding of business applications, interfaces and integrated operational environments
- End to end experience of software development lifecycle
- Good understanding of Business Intelligence and Reporting
- High Level SQL and the ability to query system
