My client are a leading, international organisation who have one of the largest pools of data in the Southern Hemisphere. They are currently looking for a talented data scientist, who has experience working with open source or map reduce systems such as Hadoop, Splunk, Cloudera etc.
The role: - Review current open source systems, analysing the need for an upgrade, and allocating specific technologies in order to improve analytical performance.
- Run POC's for newly proposed technologies.
- Ensure that new enterprise technologies can integrate effectively with legacy systems.
- Implementation and planning of ETL and Reporting tools to new open source platform.
- Review and improve Infrastructure and Security plans develop capacity plans for new technologies.
Required skills and experience: - Commercial experience with open source or "Big Data" tools, such as Hadoop, Hbase, Cloudera, Splunk, MapR etc.
- Previous experience working with high scale or enterprise relational databases such as Teradata, Oracle, Netezza etc.
- Exceptional IT architecture experience, with a passion for emerging technologies.Strong knowledge of NoSQL platforms.
- Any experience with Amazon Web Services would be highly regarded.
- Strong communication skills, with a real passion for problem solving, analysis and the ability to think outside of the box.
