About the role: This is a fantastic Mid Level Java/J2EE Developer opportunity with not only the chance to further develop your skills in Java and J2EE but also extend your flair for interpersonal communications. You will be working for a well established and highly recognised banking and finance organisation, one of the big 4 in Australia, with a strong reputation for being an employer of choice. You will be part of a small team within the business area, not the IT area, based in one of their many Sydney offices, in the heart of the CBD.
You will be responsible for: - Analysis, development and testing of new credit systems including the successful integration with other systems within the organisation
- Maintain these on an ongoing basis under the constraints of the regulatory and technology environments
- Development of tools and processes for monitoring the data and periodic data review
- Assist with the specification of requirements for development of the Credit Systems
- Management of data ownership and stewardship
- Ad-hoc data analysis and profiling tasks to analyse/investigate credit risk management issues for senior staff within the company
- Liaise with model developers to understand & implement mathematical models
- Manage the business ownership of the Credit Systems
- Provide both business & technical support of credit risk models/systems
- Provide an interface between the business, IT and model developers
- Ensure internal & external relationships are maintained for the benefit of the company
- Comply with all legislative, regulatory & corporate policy requirements and standards
To be successful in this role you will have:
Required: - A degree that enables you to demonstrate strong computing, mathematics, analytical and software development skills
- Minimum 2-3 years, demonstrable technical programming skills in a number of languages, particularly C and Java
- Experience with Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) & application servers
- Experience in working with IDEs such as RAD7/Eclipse
- Strong Object-Oriented design knowledge
- XML technologies XML / XSD
- Experience in data, system or business analysis, which required strong analytical skills
- Demonstrable applied mathematical and statistical skills
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the issues involved in implementing numerical software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly Desirable: - Familiarity with mathematical and financial tools such as Matlab, Mathematica, etc)
- Concurrent programming using Java threading model
- Understanding of message queues such as IBM MQ
- Understanding of the Basel and IFRS requirements for the credit environment
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development in a risk or quantitative field
- Exposure to XML tools such as Altova XML Spy
- Exposure to Change Control software
This role is well suited to a developer with approximately 3 years of experience in Java JEE web development who wants to continue their career within the banking and finance industry specifically within Credit Risk.
